Febrile seizure is a contraction due to high fever. The child's safety must be ensured and emergency help must be called.
FEBRILE CONVULSION: - Febrile seizure - Between 6 months and 5 years old - Fever over 38°C - Takes 2-5 minutes
SYMPTOMS: - Loss of consciousness - Body hardening - Muscle contractions - Eyes shifting upwards - Foaming - Bruising
FIRST AID: 1. Keep calm 2. Lay the child down 3. Turn on your side (if vomiting occurs) 4. Protect your head 5. Remove hard objects 6. Don't put anything in your mouth 7. Call 112 (first watch)
AFTER: - It usually goes away on its own - Sleepiness is normal - Full recovery occurs
RISK OF REPETITION: - 30-40% repetitions -More frequently in the first year - The risk increases if there is a family history
LONG TERM: - Epilepsy risk is 2-3% - No problems with development - Reducing fever does not prevent seizures
TREATMENT: - During seizure: Emergency intervention - Prophylaxis: Rarely required
