When babies fall from a height, they should be evaluated in terms of consciousness, vomiting and movement limitation.
THINGS TO DO AFTER A FALL:
1. KEEP CALM: - Don't panic - Do not hug the baby immediately - Assess the situation
2. CHECK: - State of consciousness (is he crying or awake?) - Is there vomiting? -Are his movements normal? - Is there any swelling/redness anywhere?
3. EMERGENCIES (112): - Loss of consciousness - Severe vomiting - Restriction of movement - Bleeding - seizure/seizure
PREVENTION: - Use crib railing - Keep the changing table close to the floor - Do not put cushions on the seats - Use stair gates - Install locks on windows - Never leave the baby alone at altitude
NOTE: It is important to follow up for 24 hours after the fall.
