Baby development is very rapid in the first year. Gains new skills every month:
1st MONTH: The baby tries to get used to its environment. Reacts to loud sounds. He recognizes the mother by her scent.
2nd MONTHS: Social smiling begins. He looks at the faces. Tries to imitate sounds.
3RD MONTHS: Holds his head better. Watches around more. He puts his hand to his mouth.
4TH MONTHS: Sits forward without support. Grasps objects with palm. Makes laughing sounds.
5TH MONTHS: Stands with support. Holds objects with both hands. He turns to familiar voices.
6TH MONTHS: Sits alone. He stands with support from one hand. He is shy towards strangers.
7TH MONTH: Labors. He tries to stand alone. Makes two-syllable sounds.
8TH MONTHS: Stands by holding on. He shows it with his index finger. "Parents," he says.
9TH MONTHS: Walks by holding on. Passes objects from one hand to the other. He waves.
10th MONTHS: Walks by holding on with one hand. Hits objects together. Indicates your wish.
11th MONTHS: Takes a few steps alone. He drinks from the glass. Says simple words.
12TH MONTHS: Walks alone. He tries to use a spoon. Understands simple commands.
